About Daniel E. Torres Checa
Mr. Torres Checa earned his Law degree cum laude from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Constitutional Law from Escuela Libre de Derecho and a Master of Science (MSc) in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he graduated with high merit.
With over eight years of experience, his practice specializes in constitutional and administrative litigation. His record includes three cases ruled by the Supreme Court, most notably the landmark case that overturned the militarization of civil security and the case that blocked the Chief Justice’s re-election.
In academia, he serves on the Editorial Board of the LSE Journal of Sociology. His research on human rights and democracy has been published in peer-reviewed legal journals, coordinated books, and academic articles. As an analyst, he contributes to specialized magazines and international media, with regular publications in Gatopardo, Nexos, and Letras Libres.
His legal and political commentary has been consulted by The Economist (UK) and El País(Spain).
